Plague 10: The Death of the FirstBorn of Egypt!

The LORD said to Moses: I am going to punish the king of Egypt and his people one more time. Then the king will gladly let you leave his land, so that I will stop punishing the Egyptians. He will even chase you out. Now go and tell my people to ask their Egyptian neighbors for gold and silver jewelry. So the LORD made the Egyptians greatly respect the Israelites, and everyone, including the king and his officials, considered Moses an important leader. Moses went to the king and said: I have come to let you know what the LORD is going to do. About midnight he will go through the land of Egypt, and wherever he goes, the first-born son in every family will die. Your own son will die, and so will the son of the lowest slave woman. Even the first-born males of cattle will die. Everywhere in Egypt there will be loud crying. Nothing like this has ever happened before or will ever happen again. But there won't be any need for the Israelites to cry. Things will be so quiet that not even a dog will be heard barking. Then you Egyptians will know that the LORD is good to the Israelites, even while he punishes you. Your leaders will come and bow down, begging me to take my people and leave your country. Then we will leave. Moses was very angry; he turned and left the king. What the LORD had earlier said to Moses came true. He had said, "The king of Egypt won't listen. Then I will perform even more miracles." So the king of Egypt saw Moses and Aaron work miracles, but the LORD made him stubbornly refuse to let the Israelites leave his country.

Lesson to be Learnt: 

There were ten plagues that the Lord sent before the Pharaoh let the Israelites go. Each time God sent a plague, they might have thought that this time they would be leaving Egypt and the next and the next and so on till the tenth. But God’s plans were amazing and different for them. Some might have even got frustrated before they left Egypt. But those who stood still and waited for God’s glorious moves would have rejoiced along with the Lord in victory. Sometimes even we face such situations in life. When we are trying for a job/ a baby /building a home, we think “O! this time God is going to get me what I need” and it might not even have got fulfilled yet. But my dear ones, hold on, a glorious work  is going to be done by the Lord. You might not have even thought of such a way. Yes, God works in such wondrous ways and then you will understand that it is only through the Lord you have got such a thing and do not forget to praise Him at that time.

(CEV)  On that day you will be glad, even if you have to go through many hard trials for a while. Your faith will be like gold that has been tested in a fire. And these trials will prove that your faith is worth much more than gold that can be destroyed. They will show that you will be given praise and honor and glory when Jesus Christ returns.
