Give Honor!

When we obey our parents and honor them we are gifted by God with long life. It is the first rule that has a reward with it.

Honor means to love, respect, obey and help in everything. Today we can see an increased number of old age homes. All are busy with their work and  have no time for their close ones. All of us try to stay away from taking care of our elders and try to pass the responsibility to others. It may be true that at times it tests our patience to take care of an incapable elder in our family. But we should not get angry with them and hurt them. Look what God says. You should honor your parents no matter what. He has not given any exception. Also, obey them on whatever they ask you to do. Obey when they ask you not to move with a particular friend or suggest you of some job which you may think as not so worthy.

But the Lord says, Respect them and obey them. I bet you will find more blessings than when following your own choice.

I know a friend whose mother was the worst part in her life. Her mother lived as she like and cared nothing for this poor daughter. She grew in the love of God and worked hard to reach to a great position. Her mother now clings to her for survival. But I have never ever seen my friend speak of the past about how her mother behaved but she treats her with great respect. How could she do it! She told that God had commanded her to do so. Yes, my dear friends. It is a command from the Lord to obey your parent and honor them. Shall we decide today to do what the Lord says.

(MKJV)  Honor your father and your mother, so that your days may be long upon the land which Jehovah your God gives you.

(Tamil OV)  உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உனக்குக் கொடுக்கிற தேசத்திலே உன் நாட்கள் நீடித்திருப்பதற்கு, உன் தகப்பனையும் உன் தாயையும் கனம்பண்ணுவாயாக.

(Telugu)  నీ దేవుడైన యెహోవా నీకనుగ్రహించు దేశములో నీవు దీర్ఘాయుష్మంతుడవగునట్లు నీ తండ్రిని నీ తల్లిని సన్మానించుము.
